Growing up overweight and losing my father to a health related illness has driven me to be as healthy and active as possible. Since those days I have completed hundreds of endurance events from 5ks to Marathons to Half Iron-Man and along the way I have been hit by cars, plenty of road rash and even heat exhaustion.
I went from one challenge to the next, from participating to planning, so I got heavily involved with several Non-Profits. One of my greatest accomplishments has been the creation of the Atlanta BeltLine Running Series to support the Atlanta BeltLine, which is a $4 Billon Dollar project revitalizing Atlanta. The running series is now in its 5th year with 4 events and over 6500 participants.
I then decided to step it up and create a statewide challenge to determine the most active City, out of that effort came Walk Tennessee and Active Georgia – two successful challenges where cities would compete against each other for prizes and bragging rights! So now I am looking for my next challenge, states versus states.
During this time I have met some pretty amazing people and along the way I’ve learned about their accomplishments, which made me realize how fascinating it would be to share their stories with you!
I hope that you will join me in my journey to share with you accomplishments of your neighbors and family members, while highlighting events that you might want to challenge yourself to one day!
After all, who doesn’t like a good challenge — its an amazing sense of Accomplishment!
